I love audiobooks! Living in the Washington D.C. area, and working as a substitute teacher, I can have anywhere from a 10 minute commute to an hour in the car one way. My average tends to be about 30 minutes one-way. Once I get a full-time job, I hope to move a little closer, in order to save on gas and commute time. Until then though, audiobooks are a great way to “read” while driving. I get my audiobooks in a variety of ways, but there’s a great way to get YA audiobooks for free throughout the summer. Learn more after the jump!
Sync has sessions every summer, when they provide 2 audiobooks per week via OverDrive to anyone 13 and over entirely for free. I must admit that I didn’t know about this at the beginning of last summer, and then I often forgot to download the books until the week had changed. This year, I have every intent of setting up reminders on my phone so that I don’t forget, because there are some great titles available! This year, the giveaways begin on May 15 and run for 13 weeks.
One of the best things that Sync does when it gives away these free audiobooks is to provide one modern and one classic story each week. The pairings are always interesting and there’s something for everyone. Sync recently posted the schedule for the summer on its website. I’m looking forward to Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein and Forgive Me Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick both of which are on the list for this summer.
I’ll try to remember to post reminders when the books become available, but if you love audiobooks, or just want to give them a try for free, check Sync out. It’s a wonderful service available to all, and I can’t wait!
Check the list out, and then leave me a comment telling me which books you are most interested in getting for free!
