Movie Monday 6/17/2013

Welcome to Movie Mondays. Each Monday you will get a post about upcoming movies (and possibly television programs) based on YA or children’s books. It may contain links to posters or trailers, or news about the movies. For today, we’re only going to look at three movies, Catching Fire, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and Ender’s Game.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the second film in the Hunger Games movie series. It is based on the book Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins. The film is currently scheduled to released in theaters on November 22, 2013. Here is the teaser trailer:

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the longer trailer which should happen some time this summer. Once it is released, I will share it with you here. The movie’s website has also recently released the Capital Couture posters.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug has recently released its trailer. This will be the second film in the Hobbit trilogy and will be released into theaters on December 13, 2012. In addition to the trailer embedded below, you can watch a 6 minute featurette about the film’s locations at First Showing.

Finally, Ender’s Game, based on the book by Orson Scott Card will be released later this year. You can visit the official website of the movie to get information from the IF or watch the trailer below.
